Barcelona is also home to the biggest mobile technology trade fair in the world, the GSMA Mobile World Congress. For over 30 years it has been THE place to be and be seen, with thousands of exhibitors, CEO participants, media players and over a hundred thousand visitors.

Reporting on the 2018 event, John Hoffman, CEO of GSMA Ltd, says “We had another highly successful Mobile World Congress, across so many fronts. “We are gratified with the number of senior-level attendees, particularly the number of CEOs, as well as the continued strong attendance of government ministers and regulators. However, we are not focused on necessarily having the biggest event – we continually strive to convene the right audience and deliver a high-quality experience across all aspects of the event, the conference, the exhibition, and the many other programmes and events at Mobile World Congress.”

MWC showcases the latest mobile technologies and offers a window onto the future of the industry. It is also a forum for discussing policy through its ministerial programme, which brings together government ministers, national and international regulators and CEOs from around the world to discuss policy trends and requirements.

In addition, it fosters startups, through its 4 Years From Now (4YFN) event at Fira Montjuïc, offering inspirational talks, workshops and interactive discussions, 1:1 investor meetings, pitching competitions, “pitch the press” sessions, networking activities and more; as well as specific programmes for women and youth, Women4Tech and the Youth Mobile Festival (YoMo).

The organisation is now gearing up for the 2019 event, in which you can get involved here.
