Alimentaria is the leading trade show for food, drinks and gastronomy in both Spain and the Mediterranean Arc, and an international benchmark for the industry.

Organisers are readying the biggest edition in years to offer the food, drink and foodservice industry a major platform for internationalisation and business, with brand new spaces and content and a high level of innovation, making gastronomy its differentiating factor. Joint organisation with Hostelco this year will boost synergies with the hotel and restaurant sector, resulting in attendance by more than 4,500 exhibitors, 27% of whom are coming from outside Spain.

With a net exhibition space of over 100,000 sq. m—almost the entire Gran Via venue—the joint organisation of the show between 16 and 19 April with Hostelco, the International Exhibition of Equipment for Restaurants, Hotels and Mass Catering, represents the creation of one of the biggest international platforms for the food, gastronomy and hospitality equipment industry, offering both the retail and HoReCa sectors the most comprehensive and cross-cutting offering to date.

According to J. Antonio Valls, the Managing Director of Alimentaria Exhibitions and of the show itself, one of the defining hallmarks of Alimentaria is ‘its constant evolution, with the aim of adapting to the market and showcasing growing sectors that are innovative and offer added value. In this respect we want to strengthen the existing complementarity between these two major shows and offer their trade professionals a significant business platform.’

Valls believes that holding Alimentaria and Hostelco at the same time ‘will help to further promote the food, gastronomy and tourism sectors, highlighting their strategic importance to the Spanish economy in view of the fact that, as a whole, they account for over 25% of our GDP.’
